RFK Jr: ‘I am pleased they are politically active’

RFK Jr’s Sister, Family Members Endorse Biden at Philadelphia Campaign Stop

Several family members of independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr, including his sister, Kerry, have endorsed President Joe Biden.

While introducing the president during a campaign stop in Philadelphia on Thursday, Kerry Kennedy, a lawyer and human rights activist, referred to Biden as “my hero.”

She began by comparing Biden to her father, former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, who rushed to Washington, D.C. when it was aflame with protests following the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.

“That was an incredible lesson to me, as an eight-year-old child,” Kerry Kennedy said. “He showed us that when everyone else is running away from the flames of the anguish and despair, leaders run towards them. And that’s who Joe Biden is.”

She praised the president for travelling to “an active war zone … not once, but twice, to show support for our allies. He was always running into the flames so we don’t have to.”

Kerry Kennedy, the seventh youngest of ten children, was joined onstage by her sisters, Kathleen and Rory, and her brothers, Max, Chris, and Joe.

“That’s right, that’s right,” she said. “The Kennedy family endorses Joe Biden for president."

“In 2024, there are only two candidates with any chance of winning the presidency,” she added.

After reports of the upcoming endorsement appeared Thursday morning, Robert F. Kennedy Jr commented on the news on X.

“I am pleased they are politically active – it’s a family tradition,” the independent candidate wrote. “We are divided in our opinions but united in our love for each other.”

“I hold this as a possibility for America too,” he continued. “Can we disagree without hating our opponents? Can we restore civility and respect to public discourse? I think we can.”

“My campaign, which many of my family members are working on and supportive of, is about healing America — healing our economy, our chronic disease crisis, our middle class, our environment, and our standing in the world as a peaceful nation,” he added. “But this will only happen if we heal our national conversation, and move from rage and fear into love and respect.”

Kennedy’s siblings’ endorsement for Biden arrives on the same day the former Democrat qualified for the ballot in the battleground state of Michigan.

The National Law Party backed Kennedy by gathering signatures and filing the appropriate paperwork in support of his bid for the White House.

“He’s the most qualified candidate in the modern-day history of America,” said Doug Dern, chair of the Natural Law Party, in a statement quoted by The Hill. “We welcome Mr. Kennedy and Ms. Shanahan to the party.”

“Michigan is the most important state Kennedy has qualified for so far, with just more than six months to go until Election Day,” the outlet reports, adding that “the addition of Michigan makes Kennedy’s effort more serious.”

According to data from Decision Desk HQ based on 121 polls, Kennedy is currently polling at 6.9 percent compared to Trump’s 42.3 percent and Biden’s 41.6 percent.

The present RealClearPolitics poll average puts Kennedy a point higher at 7.9 percent.

So far, the independent presidential hopeful has completed petitions to appear on the ballot in Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Iowa, North Carolina, and Hawaii. Kennedy had ballot access petitions pending in over 30 other states.
