Conservatives blast lawmakers for waiting until the end of his term to publish the findings

Republicans Release Report Alleging Biden Influence-Peddling Scheme With Just Five Months Left in Presidency

With just five months remaining in President Joe Biden's term, the Republican-led House Oversight, Judiciary, and Ways and Means Committees have released a report alleging that the President has committed impeachable offenses.

Given the late stage of his presidency and the Democratic majority in the Senate, it is unlikely that the report will lead to any serious impeachment efforts.

The 291-page report claims that Biden was involved in an influence-peddling scheme to monetize his office and enrich his family.

The committees cite evidence from witness testimony and the laptop of Biden’s son, Hunter, alleging that from 2014 to the present, the Biden family and its associates received more than $27 million from foreign sources in exchange for Biden using his position to secure favorable outcomes for foreign entities.

“The Biden family’s influence peddling was vast and involved entities and individuals from some of America’s greatest adversaries, such as China and Russia,” the report states.

“Clearly aware of the political risks associated with Joe Biden’s participation in this scheme, the Biden family and their business associates sought to conceal his involvement by funneling money through an extensive network of shell or third parties’ companies, using code names, and engaging in other obfuscatory tactics designed to maintain, as James Biden described, ‘plausible deniability,’” the committees added.

House Speaker Mike Johnson has given no indication that he plans to hold a vote to impeach the outgoing president.

Some Republicans expressed frustration that stronger action had not been taken earlier. Critics within the party derided the report as "too little, too late," pointing out that it was released just 154 days before Biden's departure from office.

“The Democrats are making arrangements to put President Trump in Rikers Island,” conservative Vince Langman wrote in a post on X, referencing Trump’s upcoming sentencing, which is currently slated for Sept. 18. “Meanwhile Republicans wrote a really mean report about Crooked Joe Biden  This is truly pathetic!”

Another social media user responded to the report, writing: “Well done GOP! Well done! Literally weeks before his Reign of Terror and total destruction of America is complete y’all have finally decided you have had enough. Y’all continue to prove what a bunch of fake, feckless group you really are.”

Conservative commentator Eric Matheny wrote, “The GOP waited until Biden was out of the race to drop this report.”
