Pro-Palestine Activists Release Maggots, Crickets In Netanyahu's DC Hotel

Activists have swarmed Washington D.C., igniting much-anticipated protests against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has been the target of ongoing anger over his handling of the latest war in Gaza.

Netanyahu is in the U.S. to address a joint session of Congress on July 24 in a bid to revive waning support for Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza.

One group of pro-Palestinian activists broke into the Watergate Hotel where the prime minister is staying, and released maggots, crickets, and worms in multiple locations, including on a banquet table where Israeli delegates would be meeting.

According to a statement posted to X by an activist named Lisa Marie, fire alarms were also triggered for more than 30 minutes on multiple floors, in an attempt to prevent Netanyahu and his delegation from receiving adequate sleep.

“You’re gonna have to f---ing shut up all down lock us up and we’re still not gonna f---ing stop,” Marie said in the post. “BON APPETIT!! MAGGOTS RELEASED ON THE CRIMINAL ZIONIST’S WAR TABLE!”

Marie also shared a link to a Telegram account called the Satanyahu Unwelcoming Committee, which is orchestrating many of the protests taking place in the nation’s capital during the prime minister’s visit.

Vowing “a day of action,” the group says, “Despite being invited by Congress who have spent the last nine months supporting him, the people across the heart of empire are drawing a clear stance against Netanyahu, zionism, and for total liberation.”

The group added, “As the [International Criminal Court] issues its arrest warrants against Netanyahu, we the people confront Zionism wherever it is whether in Palestine or from the belly of the beast.”

On the night prior to Netanyahu’s speech, protestors dyed multiple fountains around Capitol Hill red in a statement suggesting he and U.S. lawmakers who support him have “blood on their hands” in relation to the 39,090 Palestinians who have been killed in Israel’s retaliation for the October 7 attack.

Activists also used projectors to display images calling for Netanyahu’s arrest on the sides of buildings.

Protestors also blocked off six intersections headed into the Capitol building.
