Pro-Biden Super PAC Raises More Than $200 Million

Less than a month into 2024, Biden's campaign already has a total of $325 million cash on hand

Pro-Biden Super PAC Raises More Than $200 Million

A major political action committee (PAC) raising funds for President Joe Biden’s re-election bid hauled in $208 million last year, a massive sum for what could be one of the most expensive election cycles in U.S. history.

Future Forward’s total includes money raised through the PAC and its nonprofit arm Future Forward USA, according to POLITICO, who first broke the story.

“Whether it’s ensuring that Americans know about President Biden’s work to lower costs or making clear the threat Donald Trump is to our country, Future Forward is putting together an unprecedented effort to get the jobs done,” Chauncey McLean, president of Future Forward USA Action and Future Forward PAC, said in a statement to POLITICO.

Combined with the $97 million Biden raked in during the last quarter of 2023, his campaign has $325 million with nearly the entire year to continue fundraising.

The Biden camp says it has more cash on hand than any other Democratic presidential candidate in history at this point during the election cycle. For comparison, former President Barack Obama raised roughly $67 million during the fourth quarter of 2011, a sum similar to Hillary Clinton in the fourth quarter of 2015.

During the fourth quarter of 2019, former President Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee (RNC) reported bringing in $125 million, while the Trump team said it began 2020 with $156 million cash on hand.

As of Jan. 19, Trump’s main super PAC, Make America Great Again, Inc., has not released fundraising totals for 2023, POLITICO noted. As of the last reporting, it had about $1 million cash on hand and raised nearly $15 million during the first half of last year.

American Bridge 21st Century, another major Democratic super PAC, recently announced it is planning to spend $200 million during the 2024 election cycle to boost Biden, with ad buys focused on abortion and casting a Trump presidency as a threat to democracy.

“We know exactly how to beat Donald Trump. We’ve done it before, and our paid media strategy is a big part of how we’re going to do it again,” American Bridge 21st Century Founder Bradley Beychok said in a statement.

“Protecting democracy and reproductive freedom are the key issues fueling the electoral juggernaut that is women — and we’re making sure they know the truth about Trump’s agenda. Just like we were in 2020, American Bridge will be instrumental in reaching the women that decide these elections, defeating Donald Trump and sending President Biden back to the White House for another four years,” he added.
