Fulton County Prosecutors Add Mike Pence to List Of Witnesses Testifying Against Trump

Fulton County prosecutors have reportedly added former Vice President Mike Pence to a list of witnesses scheduled to testify against former President Donald Trump.

In August, Trump and 18 associates were charged in a 98-page indictment, with prosecutors bringing those charges under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RIOC) Act, which is often used to go after criminal enterprises.

Trump faces 13 counts in connection with what prosecutors allege was an effort to overturn the election results in Georgia.

The Fulton County witness list includes more than 150 names and has not yet been made public. Unnamed sources familiar with the documents, which remain under seal, revealed Pence’s name to CNN.

Pence recently dropped out of the 2024 presidential race and has consistently remained a vocal critic of Trump. This summer, the former VP indicated he would comply with any request to testify against his former boss in a case connected to the 2020 election.

“I have no plans to testify but, look, we’ll always comply with the law. But … I don’t know what the path of this indictment will be,” he told CNN’s Dana Bash in an interview.

“The president’s entitled to a presumption of innocence. He’s entitled to make his defense in court,” he added. “But actually there are profound issues around this, pertaining to the First Amendment, freedom of speech and the rest. I’m confident he and his lawyer will litigate all those things.”

After Trump was indicted in Georgia, Pence gave an address to the National Conference of State Legislatures opposing assertions that the election was stolen.

“Despite what the former president and his allies have said for now more than two and a half years and continue to insist,” Pence said.

“The Georgia election was not stolen and I had no right to overturn the election on Jan. 6,” he stated. “No one is above the law. And the president and all those implicated are entitled to the presumption of innocence.”

Georgia prosecutors have proposed a trial start date of Aug. 5, 2024, just three months before Election Day.
